No good business is born overnight, and it is said that investing without doing your research first is the same as betting without looking at the cards.

The agave business is a big business, but it requires combining 3 factors for success:

"Agave is sown and allowed to grow on its own"

Agave is a crop that requires the same care as any agricultural product. In the past, it grew wild and its growth cycle was almost 10 years long. However, by selecting plants with adequate genetics and choosing the land with the best conditions, in addition to advanced technology, its cycle is now around 5 to 6 years in order to achieve maximum yields per crop unit.

"A friend sowed agave and lost a lot"

A poor selection of plants and land and little knowledge in agronomy leads to plants with lower yields (as in any crop) and, on the other hand, a bad choice of timing with respect to when to harvest can lead to selling at a price much lower than expected. Agaveneers has 30 years of experience advising the largest tequila producers on agave production and we have the vision to determine the best time to sell and to negotiate the best price.

"If you have to sell in a year with a low price, you're done for!

It is a fact that the price of agave varies from year to year according to the demand. However, the demand for tequila worldwide has grown in recent years. (Tequila exports grew 13.5% in the last year despite COVID and the trend continues to rise due to the opening of the Chinese market.) Furthermore, when tequila is produced with advanced technology, higher yields are obtained in less time and with greater efficiency.

"If it's so profitable, why are you inviting me in?

Currently 1,000,000 liters of Tequila are consumed daily and it is expected that, in the coming years, there will be a greater demand for agave than is currently being produced. The trend of consumption of 100% agave tequilas in the USA and Europe, in addition to the possible "Post War" effect that is expected to trigger a large number of social events after the pandemic, drives us to prepare in order to meet the demand for agave that tequila companies will face in the coming years.
